About The Muslim Counsellor

Rooted in Care , Guided by Faith

I’m Kaneez, a systemically trained therapist with over 10 years of experience supporting individuals, couples, and families through their emotional and spiritual journeys.

My journey to creating The Muslim Counsellor has evolved from managing a decade of counselling experience. I began with a purist person-centred approach, which has since developed into a trauma-informed and systemic practice. Over the years, I have witnessed therapy transform — from a relatively silent practice to a celebrated and accepted path toward healing and transformation, especially in the wake of the pandemic.

Growing up and practising in Britain, I have seen firsthand how Muslims often felt excluded from the “mainstream” cultural environment. Many clients shared how they tried secular services but ultimately sought a Muslim therapist for a deeper sense of belonging. Yet, during my time working with respected Muslim counselling organisations, I noticed that clients were often seeking cultural familiarity more than a strictly Islamic perspective. Gradually, my passion shifted from purely Islamic psychotherapy to a more integrated, holistic approach.

Allah (SWT) has provided countless profound accounts in the Majestic Qur’an — showing how a person’s environment, mindset, acceptance, and foresight can either elevate or diminish them. My practice is firmly rooted in reflecting on these timeless teachings to offer practical, relevant, and faith-anchored interventions.

TheMuslimCounsellor.com was born from this insight — created for clients who wish to draw upon Islamic values to enrich their healing journey, while navigating life within a secular environment.

My approach to counselling is holistic and grounded in Islamic values, honouring your faith, culture, and family dynamics.

The Almighty reminds us in the Glorious Qur’an not to lose hope in His mercy. Yet, in the flow of daily life, many carry silent burdens — sadness, confusion, or emotional pain — often tied to the relationships and experiences held most dear.

As human beings, environments and early dynamics shape emotional responses. When challenges arise — especially in close relationships like marriage or family — it’s easy to feel misunderstood, disconnected, or emotionally distant. Over time, these struggles may lead to patterns of silence, blame, or emotional pain.

In my sessions, I help you gently explore your narrative — and those of the people around you — with compassion, clarity, and understanding. Whether I’m guiding couples in strengthening communication through open conversations about expectations, emotions, and needs, or supporting families in moving away from blame and shame toward resilience and mutual respect, my focus remains the same: to provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you can reflect, heal, and move forward — rooted in sincerity, insight, and faith.

Let’s walk this journey together — toward strength, clarity, and healing, In shaa Allah.

Why I’m Here to Support You

Over the years, I’ve witnessed how many in our community carry silent burdens — unsure of where to turn, afraid of being misunderstood, or torn between cultural expectations and personal wellbeing. My mission is to offer a bridge:

  • A bridge between mental health and Islamic guidance.

  • A bridge between pain and peace.

  • A bridge between where you are now and where you are meant to be.
