Confidentiality Agreement

Confidentiality is central to your counselling experience.

At The Muslim Counsellor, confidentiality is treated with the utmost seriousness and care. All sessions are private and confidential, and information shared will not be disclosed to any third party without your written consent, except in exceptional circumstances.

These exceptions include:

  • If there is reason to believe you or someone else may be at risk of serious harm.

  • If there is a legal obligation to disclose information.

  • If there is a safeguarding concern regarding a child or vulnerable adult.

In such cases, reasonable efforts will be made to discuss this with you prior to taking any action, unless doing so would increase risk.

As part of ethical practice, the therapist undergoes regular supervision in line with the guidelines set by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), UKCP, and Islamic Counselling frameworks. Personal identifiers are never shared in supervision, and confidentiality is fully preserved.
